CALM collection update: the gift that keeps on giving

Last month we reported on the players' brilliant efforts in collecting over £700 for local charity CALM - see report here. Now we have a thrilling update and are pleased to be able to say that thanks to generous "matched funding" donations from two local companies, the total amount raised has shot up to £1632!

Robins Chairman Paul Wainwright and U7s coach Antony Rutzler present a cheque for the funds raised by Robins players to CALM chairman Richard Crowley

The additional matched funding has come from a generous donation of £400 from the BT Swindon Charity Fund and £500 from The Openwork Foundation, and both Robins and CALM are very grateful to both for their generosity in recognising the players' hard work with these extra donations, which more than doubles our original total!

CALM Chairman Richard Crowley said: "I'd like to thank everyone at the Robins Junior Football club for their support of CALM. To collect more than £700 in one day at Tesco is a fantastic achievement. With the added donations and match funding, that total has been more than doubled. All of the money raised will help local families in the Swindon area who are going through difficult times because a child has been diagnosed with a form of Cancer or Leukaemia. To have the support of a group of dedicated young footballers makes this donation even more special."

The players' efforts made the local paper and you can read the Swindon Advertiser's report on the collection here
