Under 9s Red had a successful outing in the Malmesbury tournament on Saturday morning. The guys flew through their group, winning all 5 games. After refuelling with jumbo ice creams, it was on to the knockout stages
First, they beat Melksham 3-1 in the quarter final but were beginning to show signs of tiredness and a semi final showdown against Cam went into extra time with both teams going toe to toe, until, with the game 30 seconds from a penalty shootout, Matthew popped up with a winner.
Having lost 2 tournament finals in the last year, the team were determined to change this and drew Croft who had been one of the teams to beat them. After a cagey first half the guys soon realised the game was there for the taking and took charge in the second half, running out 3-0 winners. Well done to all players and their parents - the enthusiastic support is a great motivation for them all.
